Thanks to the recent storms, the MLTS team has been able to get a portion of the Shady Rest Winter Trails groomed and ready for use. Please use caution as only some of the trails have been groomed. Old Shady Loop and a portion of the New Shady Loop are ready to go and were groomed at 4pm on Thursday 11/10/2022. Please plan and stage appropriately as the groomed trails currently do not connect to the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center. Trail users should be aware that winter signage maps have not yet been deployed.

Greetings! We are pleased to announce that we are grooming a basic network of multi-use winter trails in the Sherwins Area as of 2-16-21. You will find the start of the trails at the Sherwins Trailhead just beyond our Sherwins Winter Access/Egress sign where you can check your avalanche beacon and look over our map and safety information. The trails will be groomed several times a week as part of a pilot program with Inyo National Forest, using the same equipment that we use for the Shady Rest Winter Trails. The map below provides a basic reference. Have fun!
Snow is in the forecast which means mixed trail conditions above 7000 feet for the rest of November.
My good friend Stan Bales who works as a Recreation Planner for The Bureau of Land Management decided to come visit us in Mammoth Lakes. Stan loves the great outdoors and always tries to fit a lot into each day (life is short). I wanted to take him hiking and skiing and he only had one full day to spend here. Well, Mammoth Lakes delivers on opportunities close to home and we decided to take a beautiful hike and ski in the same day.
